Whittling and sawing with the Flamingo class

Today at Forest school, the children learned how to use a peeler to whittle sticks. We also used a hacksaw to cut some sticks for the Owl class. The children had to measure and count the sticks to make sure everyone can have one each.

We wrote our names on our sticks to make it easier to identify later on.

We gather around to see how Evan was going to cut a willow stick with a bow saw.

We had a maths lesson outside using the willow sticks.

We worked together to cut the stick in half with a hack saw.

Evan is an expert and was able to show us how to use a bow saw.
